Liberia to offer nine offshore West Africa blocks in new licensing round

The Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority has announced the launch of its next offshore licensing round, expected to commence in April 2020. FAR taps Shearwater for Gambian seismic survey

Seismic services provider Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded a 3D Isometrix seismic acquisition project by FAR in the Gambia. Shearwater said on Tuesday that the one-month survey would cover parts of block A5 offshore Gambia in the rapidly emerging and prolific Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Conakry (MSGBC) Basin. TGS has launched a new 3D seismic survey in the MSGBC Basin, covering 5,100 square km, in partnership with GeoPartners.

The Senegal North Ultra-Deep Offshore (SN-UDO-19) seismic will be carried out using the BGP Prospector vessel, with TGS saying the plan had the full support of Senegal’s state-owned oil company Petrosen.
